The Champaign County TimeBank is a place where members can give and receive help from one another. Time is traded instead of money, and an hour of time is the same regardless of whether you’re conducting computer repair or driving someone to the doctor. Champaign Urbana Area Project, the administrator of Champaign County TimeBank, is excited to present this opportunity to Champaign County residents. It will offer a chance to “pay it forward” and give you a chance to exchange needed services for yourself.
If you have a skill that you would like to share (or learn), Timebanking is a great way to get involved. Although much of the Time Bank is online, the webpage can be accessible anywhere you can find a computer, and we are working on it to be accessible on your mobile phone.
“If we are serious about redefining work, we have to start valuing the work that enables families to function and neighborhoods to remain vibrant. We have to start rewarding the labor from the non-market economy that every specialized institution in the monetary economy desperately needs. And we need a way to put the two together.” Edgar Cahn, Founder of TimeBanks
If you are interesting in participating in our Timebank, attend one of our monthly “potluck” where new member are orientated and fellowship.
